Grief has changed everything, now what?
Grief & loss can touch every part of life. Whether you’ve lost someone you love, are grieving a future you imagined, are navigating a health diagnosis, or a major life transition, it can feel like the ground beneath you has shifted. And when there’s no space to feel or process, the weight of grief can build until it feels impossible to carry alone.
Do you feel:
- Disconnected from others, like no one really understands what you're going through?
- Numb, anxious, or overwhelmed by waves of emotion that hit without warning?
- Guilt or regret about what you said or didn’t say, did or didn’t do?
- Pressure to “move on,” “be strong,” or act like you’re okay, even when you’re not?
- Unsure who you are now, or how to live in a world that feels different?
- Like you should be coping better, but nothing feels normal anymore?
Humanicity Psychotherapy will help you create space for your grief and find a way forward that feels true to you.

How Can Grief & Loss Therapy Support You?
Understand What You’re Feeling
Grief can feel like sadness, anger, guilt, relief, or numbness, sometimes all in one day. Together, we can untangle the mess of emotions so they don’t feel so overwhelming or shameful.
Find Words for What Feels Wordless
Whether you want to talk, cry, sit in silence, or don’t even know where to start, grief therapy in Ontario gives you a place where you don’t have to pretend or perform.
Learn How to Cope With Waves of Grief
Through grief therapy in Ontario, we’ll explore practical tools and emotional grounding strategies so you can move through the hardest days with more support and less self-judgement.
Feel Less Alone in Your Experience
You don’t have to explain or justify why this loss matters. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, the loss of a pet, or the loss of the life you envisioned, we see you. Grief therapy creates space for your story to be held with care, not comparison.
Reclaim Moments of Meaning, Peace, or Joy
It’s possible to make space for both your grief and your life; one doesn’t cancel out the other. Grief therapy can help you begin to rebuild a life that feels meaningful alongside your loss.
Begin to Imagine a New Way Forward
With time and support, you can begin to rebuild a life that holds space for your loss, but isn’t wholly shaped by it. One that feels honest, meaningful, and true to who you are now.

Our Approach To Grief & Loss Therapy
At Humanicity Psychotherapy, we don’t treat grief as something to fix or move past. We understand it as a natural, human response to loss that should be witnessed, honoured, and carried with care. Whether you’re grieving a person, a relationship, a dream, a diagnosis, or the life you thought you’d have, your pain is valid. There is no timeline here, and no pressure to “get over it.”
Our approach is grounded in presence and compassion, inspired by the work of Megan Devine and supported by the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rather than trying to “solve” your grief, we walk alongside you as you learn how to live with it in a way that feels honest, gentle, and true to who you are now.
Instead of pushing grief away, we help you:

Create Space for All of Your Feelings
Rather than chasing closure, we begin by gently creating space for every emotion, especially the ones that feel messy, overwhelming, or difficult to name. This process allows your grief to unfold naturally, without pressure or judgement.

Witness Your Grief with Care
We hold your grief with tenderness and respect, offering a therapeutic presence that sees and supports you exactly as you are. This compassionate witnessing promotes safety, validation, and the sense that you don’t have to go through it on your own.

Explore Gentle Ways to Carry Your Loss
Together, we explore ways to carry your loss with more ease. This might include noticing moments of relief, connection, or meaning as they arise without forcing or minimizing your pain.

Learn to Live Alongside Your Grief
Grief may not disappear, but it doesn’t have to define your whole story. We help you integrate your loss into your life, so you can honour what’s been lost while staying open to what’s still possible.
Healing doesn’t follow a straight path and doesn’t need a timeline. It just needs a place to begin. We’re here when you’re ready.

ABOUT US
Why Work With Humanicity Psychotherapy
Because we help you make a connection with yourself that will change how you live.
Our emotions are the barometer of our well-being and when we experience loss, pain, or challenges, those feelings are signals that something needs attention. When you ignore those emotional signals, you break the trust connection between your mind and body. Expressing yourself rather than suppressing emotions is first step in rebuilding that connection and healing the most sacred bond you have with—yourself.
Humanicity Psychotherapy is a safe, healing space where your unique story is honoured. We provide trauma-informed care that is grounded in empathy, empowerment, and a deep understanding of how trauma affects the mind and body, ensuring your unique needs are respected and addressed with care and compassion.
We aim to help you rebuild what you have lost and rediscover your sense of self on your path to living unapologetically as you.
Humanicity Psychotherapy offers our clients:

How Our Grief & Loss Therapy Works
Grief can’t be rushed or fixed, but together, we can learn to carry it with compassion and stay connected to what still matters.

We Understand Your Story
Our first priority is to truly hear you. We make space for you to share what you’ve lost, how it’s shaped you, and what you’re carrying right now, without judgement, timelines, or pressure to feel any certain way.

We Find What You Need
Together, we’ll explore gentle ways to care for your grief, whether that’s setting boundaries, tending to difficult emotions, or simply creating room to feel. We’ll also notice the moments of relief, connection, or meaning that arise naturally, without forcing them.

We Walk The Journey Together
We move at your pace, one step at a time. As your grief shifts, so will our work, always guided by what feels right for you. This is your story, and we’re here to walk beside you as you learn how to live alongside your loss.

Frequently Asked Questions About Grief & Loss Therapy
Is what I’m feeling normal?
Grief has no single shape. It can look like deep sadness, overwhelm, anger, guilt, numbness, relief, or all of these at once. It might come in waves, hit you out of nowhere, or feel strangely quiet. However it shows up, and no matter what type of grief you’re going through (anticipatory grief, normal grief, or complicated grief), your grief makes sense. There’s no “right” way to grieve, and we will support you, whatever grief looks like to you.
How do I let go of what I thought my future would look like?
Grieving what could have been can be just as painful as grieving what was. It’s okay to mourn plans, dreams, or versions of life you pictured; they mattered. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending you’re okay with what happened. It means making space for what’s here now, alongside what’s been lost. Together, we can help you honour what you hoped for, make room for the feelings that come with it, and slowly imagine a new way forward, in your own time.
Am I grieving the ‘right’ way?
There is no one way to grieve, and no right way to feel. Some people cry every day, and some don’t cry at all. Some want to talk, and others can’t find the words, etc. However you’re grieving, it’s not wrong, it’s your mind and body’s way of trying to make sense of something that can’t be fixed. You don’t have to meet anyone’s expectations, including your own.
How do I keep living my life if I’m feeling like this?
Grief can make every day feel like you’re moving through fog while the world keeps going, but know that you don’t have to have it all together. In grief therapy in Ontario, we’ll take it one small step at a time, finding ways to carry your grief and care for what you still need: rest, connection, meaning, moments of relief. You don’t have to choose between missing what you’ve lost and living the life you still have. You can hold both.
How do I discuss my needs with family, friends, or my boss?
It’s not always easy to explain grief, whether you’re mourning the loss of someone you love, or grieving something others can’t easily see, like a relationship ending, a life-changing diagnosis, or the loss of the future you imagined. When people can’t fully understand your loss, it can feel harder to find the words. Together, we can find language that feels true for you and set gentle boundaries around what you do (and don’t) want to share. You don’t have to manage other people’s comfort or expectations. It’s okay to ask for space, extra support, or time to rest, and remind others that grief doesn’t follow a simple timeline.
